Aljustrel is a Portuguese municipality in the District of Beja, in the southern region of Portugal.
The Municipality of Aljustrel has an area of ​​458.47 km² and 9 257 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 4 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipality of Ferreira do Alentejo, to the east by Beja, to the south by Castro Verde, to the southwest by Ourique, and to the west by Santiago do Cacém.
It is based in the village of Aljustrel, which has about 4 600 inhabitants, and is located in the parish of Aljustrel and Rio de Moinhos.
Aljustrel is well known nationally and internationally for its Mines, Industrial and Geological Heritage, where it is also known for its Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Castelo.
In 1235, Aljustrel was conquered from the Moors by King D. Sancho II.

Climate
The location of the municipality of Aljustrel in the Alentejo region and the weak Atlantic influence accentuates a contrasting situation typical of the region of this region with low rainfall (564 mm is the average annual rainfall), high thermal amplitudes (16.4 ° C is the average temperature), winters cool and hot summers.
